Proud New AWD owner

Post by mike051972 »

Just picked up my new AWD Vibe on the 31st of Jan. and I love it. The only thing I would prefer was that it was a 5spd... I got a White two-tone car with the power package. I am looking for some suggestions for initial MODS? What kind of HP gains can I expect with a Cold Air Kit or would just swapping out to a K&N Filter do the same? I don't have alot of extra cah at this time to do a bunch of things so I am looking for the most bang for the buck, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,Mike Butler, PA

Congrats, and welcome! You will love the AWD in the snow - its a blast! For the best bang for the buck, you should first remove the air silencer. It's a free mod and it is a restriction on the air intake. It will help your engine breath a little easier until you decide what CAI to get.

Congratulations on your purchase, and welcome. I have a base Frosty 2-tone. I really like that look!

It's the air intake tube that comes out of the front of the airbox, snakes around to the right of the battery and ends up behind the headlight. I don't know about other years, but the '04s have it. If you look at the right side of the picture, the tube necks down to a puny 2 inches and chokes the air intake. You have to take the battery out to get at it, but you don't need any tools to take the tube itself off. Just some firm coaxing. I had that thing off my car the second day I owned it.
