As I have ranted before, I hate the way the continental tires wear. Their traction and ride were good in my opinion, but after the front 2 tires were worn down to the cords I decided to get 2 replacements for temporary use. Usually, you want to replace your tires with the exact same ones that already reside on your car. I had no such luxury. Not 1000 miles after mixing tires, the vibe began shuddering starting at speeds of only 10 mph. I had the tires balanced, and my alignment was also done, so I decided to just get 4 new tires.Money was tight, so I went to the same shop I always go to to get Cooper Tires. Cheap and good. But all they had were the economy Trendsetter SE's. For short notice, and having a long trip ahead I went ahead and paid the $280 for all 4 Trendsetters. They fixed my vibration and shudder since I have 4 of the same tires now. Unfortunately, they are not as smooth riding, or as quiet as the conties. But their deeper tread did admirabley better in the snow in michigan, and hopefully these will wear the way they are suppose to.Anyone else have to replace those conties yet?

My Conti's don't have many miles left, and was thinking of pricing me some Coopers. I can't believe how chitty my Vibe drives on a little snow with the worn out Conti's. No control at all. Not good with a 2yr old in the back.
Do a search for"Conti early tire wear".My front ones had over 30% wear at 3200 miles and were repalced under warranty. The back ones were not as bad and they would not replace them yet.I traded the 2 new ones and the 2 old ones in on a set of 225/50/16 Falken FK 451 summer tires as I also have Dunlop Graspic winter tires. They gave me $255.00 for the Conti's, now they can be somebody else's problem.
The "summer" Falken 451 is also a great rain tire. I went through a 55 mph. wind and buckets of rain with out any hydroplaining. Great tire! Probably not good for snow?

But my back tires were not fine, they were scalloped and uneven. Which caused my latest problem. Oh well, 4 Copper 40,000 mile tires later, and I'm happy again.

Had my first set replaced after 28k miles. 50% discount under warranty. The replacement set had balancing problems (shimmy at 75mph), and the dealer reduced (not eliminated) the shimmy with sending out the tires for a force balance. But now with 55k on the car, the replacement tires are near the wear bars. Garbage tires. Any recommendations on a tire that will perform decent in rain/snow? Bob'03 Mono Shadow GT
Havn't replaced as yet but talking to dealer,Worst tire I've ever had with wet / light snow covered roads. Tires are unpredickable(like my spelling?)Dealing with GM Canada not holding my breath Know I won't have these tires on come next winterBus Driver

I had my alignment checked around 18,000 miles or so by my dealer and it was said to be fine. When I had my conties replaced, they said my alignment was slightly off. I don't know exactly how much. (I didn't ask) I seem to be getting the same mileage as before, but the wet traction is unfortunately not as good as the contis, but not bad. I personally think my alignment was off from the start, and my dealer didn't catch it. Also, about 2000 miles into my new coopers, I have had my first flat. It was a large masonry nail that hit dead center on my back left tire. Luckily, I was just passing a pretty gheato tire place (In S. Carolina) by chance, so I stopped to get it fixed. "How bad could they be?", I thought. No credit card, debit card, or check bad....thats how bad. I had no cash on me! Had to walk around till I found a store that would give me cash back on my debit card to pay for the tire repair. So I paid Billy, Bob, Joe, Jean, and Cleatus their 7 dang-burn dollars and went on my way. More dollars than the number of teeth in any one of their mouths. And so I left the gene pool of horrors as fast as possible....
