I was cruisin with my friend yeterday to get gas in the Vibe and I saw another kid about my age drivin a white Vibe. We were just pacing eachother and stuff. Then he sped up for some reason (maybe showin off?) and I gues he wasn't paying attention and he locked up the brakes and it didn't stop because of all the salt on the road...he smashed into the back of this honda, and then this lady in a Durango had to slam her brakes because she was righ ton his a**, also the kid didn't give her warning and she locked all hers up smashed into the back of the Vibe. There wasn't any injuries and none of the cars had any major damage, but I felt sorry for the poor Vibe

Everytime I see another Vibe on the road, I always do everything I can do get right next to them to at least give em a wave of a thumbs up. Now, I will admit to being extremely reckless at times (weaving in and out of traffic at 80mph on a 55mph road ... thank you radar detector) But I always make sure to keep an eye out ahead of me (10 cars ahead) and the instant I see any brake-lights anywhere I always go on defensive mode. Last person I saw with a Vibe was driving an Abyss base model with the sport package, she was pretty young and talking a cell ... wonder if she thought I was hitting on her when I pulled up next to her and waved. I did get a nice smile out of it, at least.

I'm not terribly concerned about accidents involving other types of cars, but the more that kids wreck up Vibes, the higer our insurance rates will go. The rates are based in large part on how frequently they are involved in claims and how badly people are injured in them. Now they are even using your credit scores in many states to determine your rates or even if they will insure you. People may be denied coverage or charged more because of lower credit scores. This is ridiculous, one has nothing to do with the other.

Geo,Here's a little advice from an old driving surviver: Keep your other eye out (10 cars behind, and to either side), and be on defensive mode all the time. If you wait until the instant you see brake lights then you've waited too long. You're just as likely to get hit from behind or the sides. So keep your eyes scanning all around the car. The most amazing driver I never hit saw and heard me sliding towards her, brakes locked up at from about 85mph, and pulled into another lane at the last moment before we would have hit. And in my 30 years or so of driving, I've never hit anyone, but my various cars have been clipped in the rear or rear quarters several times. In each case I could have avoided those interactions if I'd have been more actively watching my rear.Drive safe.KSNeptune
Glad nobody was hurt. We've had alot of salt put down on the roads around here in the last couple weeks, and I don't know if it's my Continentals or what, but I've noticed how little traction I get on the dry roads that have a "salt haze" on them. Really slick!!!.
I noticed the same thing the other day. I do not like the contenintels and am going to change come spring regardless. I want a tire with more MEAT on it rather than those Bicycle tires that came with it.I am thinking of the BF Goodrich T/A- I had them on my Reatta and Eldorado in the past and loved them. I have a passion for the raised white lettering. James (Vibe)
GEO - I do that too. When I see a Vibe I try to get next to them. Alot of the time it's an older lady like 50-60 that probably doesn't even know what kind of car she's driving I'm starting to see more younger people driving them like in their 20's.KSNeptune - That's great advice! I never looked behind me until about 6 months ago the car in front of me locked 'em up without giving me warning...I hd time to stop without locking the wheels since the Vibe's so light, but the woman behind me had a Taurus and she locked hers and almost slid into me but she swerved onto the side of the road and ended up stopping right next to me on the right side. Her and I rolled down the windows and both appologized.
