It's hard to put an alkaline battery in something that isn't as thick as an alkaline battery... At $249, the price is a bit steep, IMHO, for what little storage you get, when you could have a 15 gig "real" iPod for $50 more. The battery in the iPod *is* replaceable, however. Other companies are starting to carry the battery, and getting the iPod open actually isn't very difficult at all. It just voids your warranty. But if you were still in warranty, you'd get the battery replaced for free anyway. So it doesn't much matter.
yeah 249 is high but If I know about Apple I know that this item will be pretty hard to come by at first so Apple gave it a premium price of 249... I am somewhat intersted in getting one just for the sake of giving my ipod a little brother so I will just wait for the price to go down although if you are a student or worl for the government you could probably save about 25 bucks.
