I have an AWD Vibe. A few weeks ago, I ordered snow tires and wheels from Tirerack. The sales representative was very helpful, and the tires arrived earlier than expected. I got the Blizzak WS-50 with black steel wheels. I decided to get 15" instead of 16" because narrower tires are better in the snow. They don't look bad. Although I got the wheel covers, we think the black steel wheels look fine without them, on our two-tone black Vibe.Yesterady, we had our first real snow in Chicago since getting the Vibe. The combination of AWD and snow tires make this car a great winter driver. My son, a new driver, was out in the snow storm yesterday and felt completely at ease with the car. On the way home, he saw two accidents (and successfully avoided participating in each). I am sure that snow tires will help a FWD base or GT as well.I highly recomend Tirerack.
Update on my snow tires: Over the weekend my son noticed that one tire was almost flat. We filled it with air, but the next morning it was almost flat again. We took the car to the local Bridgestone dealer. They determined that there was a pinhole in the sidewall, so it couldn't be repaired. It cost $10 for them to check it out and then put on the spare tire. I have the Tirerack Road Hazard program (costs about $10/tire when purchasing the tires). They will cover the cost of the new tire and shipping from Tirerack. It doesn't cover the cost of installing the new tire (about $20) or the Road Hazard coverage for the new tire ($10), so I figure after one month of having these snow tires, I will pay $40 to replace a tire which cost $78 + shipping + road hazard coverage. Not the greatest deal, but not the worst, and Tirerack has been quite fair and helpful. They are shipping out a tire today. The local Bridgestone dealer didn't have the tire in the required size and said it would take at least a week and maybe longer since they usually don't ship out only one tire.
Hey I did the same thing..put snow tires on my 4wd Matrix, from the tirerack. Its an awsome combination. Last winter I drove up a long driveway with 13" of snow! Im always out when it snows and I dont think I could get the car stuck if I wanted to. BTW I got Dunlop wintersport m2s.
yep, same kind of thing happened to me this weekend. my tire was low about 2 wks ago, filled it and then last thurs noticed it was almost flat. took it in on sat to get it patched and it was a screw! but only cost me $20, so not bad.
