Strange sound coming from front wheel

When I took my Vibe yesterday, I've heard a strange sound coming from the front wheel, driver side.It sound like 2 pieces of metal hitting each other. It sounds a little bit like you drive on a manhole and the cover is bented.It happend when I hit bumb or pothole, but not every time.I hope this has nothing to do with my Tien coil...I took a quick look and I did not notice anything wrong.Anyone has an idea what ca make this noise?

Do you have a CAI? Mine use to make rattle noise because the filter was hitting the back of the fog light until I fixed it. If you dont have a CAI then not sure what it could be.

No CAI yet... and it seems to come from the back of the wheel. Sometime I have the feeling something hit under my feet...I did a visual inspection (without removing the whell) and I couldn't see anything wrong.... May be I'll have to jack the car and remove the wheel to see what cause this sound.... If I had a garage........

I finally fopund from where was coming this sound...The top mont (sp?) strut bolt was loose. Few clic of ratchet and the noise is gone!!!By chance I found this before loosing the nut

Glad you found it. Do you think it came loose because of your springs mod, or is it something that you think we should all check?

I wonder if this is the popping noise that I hear sometimes coming from my front suspension? I have not changed any suspension parts yet, though. Everything is still stock. The sound you describe is similar to mine.

ahhh.. just saw this post. tomorrow morning imma check mine. I just created a new topic. I got the same exact noise on the front drivers side as well. I suspected it was the fronbt strut, but i visually didnt see anything loose...

The sound you describe is similar to mine.If all is stock on your car, bring it to the dealer.I didn't do it because I suspected the noise was cause by my coil install and I didn't wanted to pay the dealer to fix it.

Everything was well tighten.Then I popped up the hood, removed the plastic cap from the top strut and i put my wrench on it...The bolt was kinda loose, give it about 1 full turn and tighten it properly. I did it 1 week ago and never heard the sound anymore.
