Just got my new Vibe

If there was anything that could bring out a real thrill of driving and make you wish you had further to get to your destination, its a Vibe. I have been "drooling" over them since their first appearance in 2002 and always dreamed of owning one. I'm a pontiac fan, work for GM so I'm always around the cars so naturally I would drive a pontiac. My old car was a 1996 Sunfire GT 5spd, a really good car but getting old and we all know what happens to cars as they get old. It ran like a charm and all but I wanted a Vibe, what can I say?It was a tough decision what colour to get, I really liked neptune and fusion but I finally settled on fusion. Its the right sized car for that colour, really looks nice. I ordered it monotone, no grey paneling for me. Its a 2004 Pontiac Vibe 5spd. I would have gone GT but I don't like the 6spd transmission. And it was a little more money. But the 5spd Vibe has quite a bit of pep and actually matchs the performance of my GT Sunfire very nicely. I plan on fixing the car up some and hope this forum will have a lot of ideas. I have a few things on my list like tinted windows, shifter knob, 17 inch rims (maybe 18 inch) spoilers and body kits as well as engine modifications.Final thought now that I have had my car for about a week now... I LOVE IT!

Thanks for the welcome, Montreal is an awsome place. I go there several times a year and was at the performance auto show there last year that you guys had in your baseball stadium.Oh I will definatly be posting some pics up once I get some taken. But as we both know, this isn't the greatest time to try and get outdoor pics with the rain or snow or just simply put cloudy miserable weather. I have an indoor location I'm sure I can use to get some though and will get those up as soon as I can.

Congrats on the new wheels! How do you like the sound of the upgraded tunes package? I thought I'd get an aftermarket system when the time comes, so I went with the base's base cd system, but now I wonder if I should have stepped up..... oh well there's always Kenwood and Pioneer. Our Vibe is two weeks old now, and so far so great! Lots of luck in the new year, keep us posted with your impressions, good and bad. All the bestRic

Its great to see so many canadians here. As for the upgraded sound system, I am really enjoying it. The sound is rich, you can preset the base and treble for each individual cd though I like my bass and have the same setting for all 6 discs. It has two speakers on the front doors, two on the rear and two on the corners of the dash built into the front window frame. I have no regrets getting it and no plans of upgrading. If you are going to upgrade then you did the right choice with the standard stereo system. I have had my Vibe for a week this monday and I know people have been commenting/complaining about the long wait to get theirs. Well I ordered mine in the summer but didn't want it until december so I could get it with that ring in and win money off and all that. Since I got the car at cost, I did not qualify for the 0% but got it for 1.9% which is still very good. But what did hurt is it came in the first week of december and I had to see it sitting there on the lot every day from my window (I work at a GM dealership) until I took delivery of it.But the wait was worth it.

I also had to wait a few weeks knowing my Vibe was on the lot and ready for me, but I couldn't get out of my lease on my Cavalier. Finally I could wait no more and paid the penalty to get out of my lease two months early.

Yeah, I was trying to still sell my old Sunfire at that point as well and couldn't drive both cars or afford to. But the Sunfire (fond memories though) is gone and I'm in my new wheels.But really whats with the 6 month wait though eh?

Actually I got lucky on the wait. I wanted the exact one I ended up with except I wanted Salsa, not Satellite. But when I was in there ordering my car, someone who had ordered in March '02 (I was there in June '02) cancelled his order for the Satellite. The salesman asked me if I could live with Satellite if it had everything else I wanted because it was coming in a month! I said sure! Otherwise I would have waited 5 or 6 months for the Salsa one.

Hey welcome aboard!!! Down here in Houston, Tx. USA it was 75 degrees today! I came home from work and the wife had the air conditioner on in our house. We get to use the a/c in our cars almost year round this far south. I love my vibe...

wow! it's great to see all the new members and vibe owners everyday! welcome aboard the forum! hope you stay a long time and find this forum as useful as i have!oh, and the "premium" sound package consists of a 200 watt amp and 2 tweeters in the front door. you'd want to upgrade that sound system regardless if you like your tunes crystal clear.

I don't want to upgrade mine at all, its perfect as it is.75 with the a/c on? Right now its snows every time I wash my car and its an almost pointless battle of trying to keep it clean. Though I must say I really like how the fusion colour hides the dirt. My old black Sunfire shows everything.I am greatly enjoying this board, reading threads on what to look for, picking up modification tips and all that good stuff. Lots of nice people here to.

This is truly a great site for Vibe owners. I had the pleasure of meeting some Ontario owners this fall and hoping to do that again. We will start organizing a new meet for this summertime location TBD and hoping to see you all there As for the audio set up, some people (myself included) just wanted alittle more punch from our systems, there are no problems that I know of for the stock audio set up.

Well ArcsVibe you let me know when the meet is and I'll definatly try hard to show up. I'm in MTL about 4-5 times a year so even if the meet ends up there maybe I'll plan a trip so I'll be in the area then. My french is terrible though heh.
