rattling noise!

Post by shibaman »

I developed a irritating rattling from the rear end of the car. I had a feeling that it might be the sway bar and sure enough it was some what loose again. This is the 2nd time I have had to tighten it even torqued at 140- 150 lbs. If it happens again I guess I will have to put some locktight on the nuts.

might be worth adding the task of checking the nuts to your list of periodic maintenance. How many miles did you get between each tightening?

Exactly what nut is it that is coming loose? It's not the one neer the urathan bushings is it? or is it one of the ones that connect the sway bar to the frame?

It is the bolt/nut that holds the sway bar(rear) to the twist axle. Both had become loose again. It is not a big deal, but a little irritating. I have not had any problems with the front.

You should look into finging some lock style nuts.. Just make sure they are a hardend steel.. A lil loc-tite wouldnt hurt either..I see you went with after market sway-bars, how ya like them? Are they worth it? If so, can ya tell me where is a good place to get them and what is a good price..Check this link out.. http://www.jscspeed.com/matrix/suspension.htm This site is all mods for Matrix and Vibe.. Very nice stuff..

I have Hotchkis bars and springs on my car and am very happy how it drives and handles. The ride may be too firm for some people but that is the sacrafice you give for the great handling. Their bars work great and are the best thing for the $. If you want a smoother ride go with Eibach Pro springs. jcspeed seems to have good prices. I bought mine from Hotchkis. Check on the board because other people have the same set up as me. Good luck.
