Boubin *******s

Post by redlava »

Went to Boubin to get a quote for a magnaflow muffler and they want to charge me $200. Unfortunatly they are the only people in town who carry that particular brand so just for the hell of it I went to another place and for a xlerator (?) they were gonna charge me $150. Normally this wouldn't bother me much because magnaflow is a more well known company, but the magnaflow was $1 cheaper! So I compared quotes and Boubin is charging me $47 for labor and $14 for shop supplies, the other place is charging me $12 for labor and nothing for supplies.Anyway I was wondering if anybody has any info or experience with some of these "off brands" that are around like Xlerator, Dynomax, and Ravin. Anything helps, thanks.

Could you not buy it online and then have it installed?
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Dynomax isn't really an off brand. I know some the J-body guys(Sunfires/Cabs) use Dynomax. They sound quite good and mellow. Can't remember specific model names.

I like dynomax mufflers. Their SuperTurbo mufflers flow quite a bit better than stock but maintain a nice mild tone. And the UltraFlow mufflers have outstanding flow allong with a nice mellow tone.--Matt

I have considered buying a muffler online and having the other place install it, and I probably will do that. As far as a cat-back, I have also considered that as well, but I am not quite sure if I want to spend and additional $150 dollars on something that won't improve things over just getting a high flow muffler. Thanks for the info guys.
