State police at Troop K in Colchester charged the two in connection with burglaries, car thefts and vandalism that happened over the summer.On July 18, troopers and officers with the Mansfield resident state trooper’s office responded to a wooded area off Route 44 in Mansfield where they found two vehicles on fire.One of the vehicles, a 2003 Pontiac Vibe, was “fully engulfed in flames,” according to police. The other, a 2002 Dodge Dakota pick-up, had already been completely burned. The estimated value of the Pontiac was $18,500. The Dodge was worth about $20,000.Police found that the Pontiac had been stolen from a residence in Hebron earlier that morning and that the Dodge had been stolen from a residence in Lebanon on July 15.State and local fire marshals determined that the vehicles were intentionally set on fire.Police found that the vehicles were stolen during a rash of burglaries and vandalism in Lebanon, Colchester, Columbia, Hebron, Marlborough and East Hampton.Troopers with Troop C in Tolland, which covers Mansfield, were able to get arrest warrants for Craig and Doughty, and Wednesday, the two men were brought from Hartford Correctional Center to Rockville Superior Court.They were charged with two counts of second-degree arson, and returned to Hartford.

Having had two vehicles stolen from me in the past i may be a little bit biased...DEATH by firing squad! A small percentage of our population causes the majority of our crime, I say lockem up several years and make em pay the insurance company back when they get out.
