Okay,I am giving up on a turbo/super charger option for the GT. All I want for Christmass is 30 hp, will $2000 usd give me my fix. I have looked at every post on Genvibe, Matrix-Vibe Organization, and MartixVibe.Net on the subject and I am beat. All I want is a 100mph 1/4, I know little about car mods as I spend most of my hood time in my sled, which is a two stroke. I am open to all your ideas, try to keep it under/at budget.

I do not know anything about Nitrous...........is it just good for short runs or can I use it on demand for day to day agresssssive driving. How long does a bottle last and where do you get it charged.
Nitrous is not good for everyday driving. If you are only wanting 30 hp, you could try the cold air intake, exhaust, throttle body, pullies.Or you could always just rip out the passenger seats, back seats, spare, plastic on inside, etc.
Ya nitrous will work and you can get a Nitrous Express system made for the Vibe for around $600 from http://www.nopi.com. It's not a all the time thing and it's mainly for short periods of time like drag racing or passing. You can do alot better than 30HP for $2000. You could have your intake manifold bored for around $400. The same for your Trottle body. http://www.extrudehone.com If you have furtherquestions for Rick please contact him at 1-800-613-1065As a claim to their abilities ... Ford sent the intake system from the SVT Contour to them and got 25HP over stock.A Phenolic Manifold Spacers will help along with that mod as will a CAI. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=169All 3 mods would probably cost around $650 and would give you around 30HP alone. You can add headers, high flow cat, muffler, performance pullies, lighten fly wheel for manuals or performance torque converter for autos. Send your ECM off to JET and have them reprogram it.Header wrap your headers or exhaust manifold to help keep under hood temps down. Hell for $2000 you could take your car to a machine shop and have them port and polish your heads, and at the sametime get a 3 angle valve job. That will increase air flow and add HP and torque.
Okay.........so let me see..... I get a CAI for $300, a TRD exhaust for $500, add the AMSS Celica GTS Header for $400(Fits the Matrix XRS) for a total of $1200 usd. I have not done anything internal yet. Will this get me my 30hp and a 100mph 1/4.? I would like to stay away from internal work, unless someone can talk me into it. I would like to keep the car a day to day car.........with a dark side.

Well, the intake and muffler will be around 20 hp and the headers, ~8-12 hp so it will be close. This is what is claimed by the manufacturer of the parts though, may not be accurate. Also, I don't think that it will give you a 100mph 1/4 mile. This will take a good bit more than that as my Dakota R/T stock ran only 94 mph in the 1/4 mile and it is a 5.9L V8.
Thanks people,I think I will go for the CAI, headers, and the TRD exhaust for now. I will aquire the items slowly for the next eight months to May and it will not hurt so much.DVDvibe, I was on my way home for lunch yesterday a Durango 5.9 R/T pulled up beside me at a light. nice box, black and alum rims. So he is looking over at me and starts to smile..........oh oh, I think he wants to go. well the intersecting street light goes red, 3..2...1... Gerrreen.(like Taz says on the Carlo ad). Well sh**, I jump out ahead. and wait until 8200, shift to second off the gas a bit, no clutch. Here he comes...........all that 250 hp and 345 ft. lb. torque. Its time for third and we are side by side and he is going ahead of me. I use the clutch this time(chicken). His rear bumper is at my front, but I am not loosing ground when I hit 7500-8000 rpm, we are at 120 kph. Into fourth(no clutch again) we are nearing 130 kph he backs off and I pass him. I would have liked to see how far he would have pulled away to 8000 in fourth, but common sence took over. I think with the mods I will be close to 100 in the 1/4, better than 94 anyways.

I don't know, I had the dakota and my vibe would not even come close to touching it however I do have a base vibe with an automatic trans, but even if it were a gt model I still don't think it would have a chance. See if you can hook up with someone that has the 4.6L V8 mustang 5 speed and see if you can hang with one with someone that knows how to drive. If so then you have a chance, I doubt it but I could be wrong.
No I don't think can beat the 5.9 R/T Durango. It was fun to play and see what he had like I stated in the post. I have not raced a Vibe base but it would be no contest. I think that with a few mods I can get high 90's in the 1/4 and that would get the job done. The 4.6 Mustang GT will eat me alive.
C&D did a story awhile back on the Dakota R/T and I think it was doing a 15.4 or 15.2 1/4 mile. If I remember their quote, it was something like it's not a Mustang eater, but it will suprise a lot of people. Just like the messed up gearing in the Vibe GT, a 5 spd in a pickup is not bad for racing, but rather for getting the boat or trailer moving up a hill.
You said you didn't know much about nitrous so this link should answer all your questions.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=456Here are some FAQ for nitroushttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=457Here's the link with info on the company that actually makes the nitrous kit for the Vibe/Matrix. You can get it in 35HP, 50HP, or 75HPand for under $600 for a complete kit.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=291JET calims to be able to add 10 to 14 HP by reprograming your ECM. It'll cost $400http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=411Get a CAI or make one like I did. I personally feel it's good for at least 5 HP and mine only cost around $80 to $90 with K&N Filter.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=178You can gain around 5 to 10 HP with a performance pullie set up.Price is around $300 to $400 depending on what you want to do. They have a lite weight flywheel if you have a manual also.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=845If you have a auto trany Level Ten can do wonders for your 0 to 60 times as well as your quarter mile times. They claim to be able to cut a full second off your 1/4 times.http://forums.genvibe.com/zeromodify?cm ... d=559There are other things but I'll leave it at that for now unless you ask for more options.
