Help! New HU thumps when I change stations

Post by splashd »

I installed a new Pioneer HU. WIred the preouts to my factory 200W amp (Moons and tunes). WHen I change sources or stations I get a sharp thump through the speakers. Does anyone know the cause and better yet, a solution? One hint--I use an old RCA speaker cable to splice into the harness fromthe preouts. WOuld I be better off building my own from speaker wire and RCA plugs? WHat gauge, if so?Should I have just wired in the HU speaker output, instead of pre-out?ANy help is appreciated.
