This may be a dumb question, but where do you mount your I-pass transponder? Normally the thing is mounted behind the rearview mirror, but in my Vibe (picked it up last Saturday) it has that dot matrix stuff behind the mirror. I hesitate to stick velcro on there because #1, will it stick to that plastic dot matrix? and #2 when you go to take off the velco won't it damage the plastic on the windshield? Sorry if this was ever asked before here on GenVibe but I can't find anything about it.

I don't live in Illinois and I don't have I-pass, BUT...I live in NJ and have EZ-pass. I have my transponder stuck right to the dot-matrix stuff and it is just fine. I have not tried to take it off, so I cannot say what will happen.
Not sure about Illionois, but here in Jersey they also sell a thing that suction cups to the window and will hold an electronic toll transponder.Of course, there is no permanent mounting with that method. On the downside, the dot matrix behind the mirror would not let a suction cup grab. You'd have to go below or to the sides of it. If you guys don't have them out there and you want one, let me know, I can pick one up for you and send it out your way next time I see them!
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Don't stick it on the dot matrix, i'm sure the velcro will stick with no problem but the sensor might not go through it when you're passing through the tolls. I have a radar detector do that's taking up my space so I just hold up my ipass when I go through... you can always just stick it in the upper right hand corner of the window.

I've got my I-Pass stuck to the dot-matrix area behind the rearview mirror and it works fine. I was curious about it was well, but I haven't had any issues with it placed there.

The instructions that came with it state to place it to the left of the rearview mirror, as I recall. Something like 1.5" from the top of the windshield and 1" to the left of where the mirror attaches to the windshield. Those aren't the exact instructions, but it was something close to that.

I still haven't hooked it up yet. I really haven't decided yet where to put it yet. I am still grabbing it out of the console and holding it up to the window. I-pass said they would send me some free velcro to reattach the transponder, but I don't think I will hold my breath. When I called to tell them I had a new car, they still had my old car (traded in 4 years prior) in the computer even thought I know for sure I called when I traded that car in. I think I am leaning toward putting it in the upper corner on one side or the other and see if it works.
