New Vibe! - Question

Post by GenvibeFL »

Well, I finally got our new vibe today. Have to say I like it so far. Got a pretty good deal I think on a frosty auto with moon and tunes, power package, and monotone. With GM in the Driveway certificate (thanks to the person who sent it) I got it for $18606 less $2000 rebate less $500 bonus cash less $500 car show bonus cash less $750 upromise certificate less $3600 gm card rebate. Not bad eh? :-) I did have one question though. My gm dealer told me that the vibe does not come standard with floor mats, but said he'd throw a set in anyway. On my way home I noticed they were just some cheap set of floor mats. Isn't it supposed to come with floormats with the Pontiac and Vibe logo, with hooks that attatch to the floor? If someone could let me know I would appreciate it as I plan to go back tomorrow and ask for the correct mats. Thanks!

The base model. The thing that I don't get is the pontiac web site, the 2004 Vibe catalog both mention floor mats as being standard. And the owners manual even has a section on how they hook to the floor of the drivers side of the car.

My Vibe GT came with them. It never even came up during my car buying process. I have the ones that match the carpeting with the red Pontiac logo and Vibe logo stitched into them on the sides. And the hook is attached to the floor on the driver's side and goes through a hole with a grommet around it on the floormat to secure it in place.

Hi GenVibeFL...Yeah, you know, I was under the impression that they weren't but I was thinking about the upgrade floor mats which are all rubber for Winter. I was surprised to find out that front and rear came with though now that I look back on it, it seems logical. Yes, they should come with the carpeted Vibe insignia floor mats for both front and rear. You said something about getting abonus for there being a car show bonus cash back. Maybe this was a specially ordered model for a show and it didn't come with the mats? You should at least have the window sticker and it should say on there whether they are included or not and if they are supposed to be, I'd demand them cuz they are kinda nice and fit real well.Dave

Thanks guys. Went back to the dealer today and within 2 minutes had my new floor mats. The dealership admitted that after I left they realized I was supposed to get the better ones with the Vibe Insignia. We love our vibe so far, besides the small click noise we hear on occassion when driving off in forward or reverse. It appears this is a common problem though and goes away eventually on it's own.

Nope, always wear our seatbealts so it can't be that! Doubt it's the headlight sensor either heh...appears to be the problem discussed in this thread:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1871

yes, my base Vibe came with the mats with the Pontiac emblem and they hook onto the floor with those plastic hooks. I thought all Vibes were suposed ot come with those.

Strange how they made that mistake. If a car comes with floor mats, it is usually packaged in clear plastic wrap along with other accessories and manuals that come with the car. When the car gets to the dealer, the dealer should take the package out of the trunk and put everything together (i.e. screw on the antenna if necessary, put the floor mats in their proper place). I'm not sure how the accessories are packaged for the Vibe, but I hope your dealer didn't lose anything else. Make sure you have the cargo cover, the straps for the tire, the ashtray that looks like a cup, and the little black knob-like things that fit into the slots in the cargo area. That's all the accessories that I could think of.
