Toyota #2

Post by Reynoma »

From Automotive News: Inside Automotive News -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=Toyota passes Ford as No. 26-month sales tally signals a new order Continuing its steady sales climb, Toyota Motor Corp. squeezed past Ford Motor Co. by 43,000 vehicles in the first six months of its fiscal year to become the world's second-biggest automaker. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-To this I say, congrats Toyota. The american automobile manuf are now reaping the fruit of their years of poor quality, inferior products and mis-management. Toyota (along with Nissan and Honda) are focusing on the market segment that matters most - the automobile. Instead, the US companies put all their eggs in the SUV/Truck basket and is now seeing the results. Watch out GM.

Not too mention that Toyota has a bad (removed) lineup of SUV's and trucks.

Ironic that Toyota's pickups and suv's get more popular as they become more "Americanized"? Chrome bumpers, larger non-import looking bodies, and finally V-8 engines have helped Toyota claw its' way into this market. They just need to develop some vehicles with more towing capability and more power (torque in particular) to equal or surpass their American counterparts. This is one of the big reasons that Ford redesigned it's F-150 line of trucks for 2004. I was reading an article in a magazine on this as well.

Watch out GM.What I see in the above statement is:more lost jobs for the U.S.A.just like the textile market, the shoe Industry, the toy companys, ect. ect. and more americans out of work. so all the people who work in the computer programing market watch out cause your next. and as far a poor quality, the american automotive industry has improved tremendously in the past years to be competitive with the imports. case in point:the paint on GM cars not affiliated with foreign automakers is great, the paint on the vibe SUCKS and it isn't because GM said use less paint........

Isnt the Tundra's/Tacoma's/4Runnners made in the States here? yea it is made in indiana I'm pretty sure. and various other foreign companys are coming to america and canada. honda motorcycles are built in U.S.A. it is cheaper for them to build here and not have to pay import duties.these are non union companys ( 10.00/ hr.) and the money made by that company doesn't stay in the U.S.Quote, originally posted by silverawd26 »I think my dads F-150 is the only true American Car it seems, maybe not?? nah there are lots of cars made in the u.s. here is a link to the UAW made cars and trucks:http://www.uaw.com/uawmade/cartruck2004.cfmI'm just a UAW worker that has battled the foreign market for 27 years I'm kind of brain washed. when I bought my vibe it was kind of against everything I was force fed over the years. it being built by GM and union workers was the only thing that let me buy it. kind of hard to teach an old dog new tricks. sorry. I'll stop now.

I hate SUV's. You see a sweet car in a parking lot somewhere and this big box pulls up obliterates your view and you never see it again:( Plus nobody uses SUV's for what they are made for....unless they are made for style now-a-days instead of hauling things. I see more SUV's with 374inch "dubs" than I do hauling lumber or plowing through mud. It's so anoying how the rap culture has influenced the furture and present image of SUV's.

It is going to take a long time of excellent quality to turn that around. Ford, GM and Chrysler are not there yet.
