This was on the front page of the Detroit News today.The Maybach.Engine: 550-horsepower, 5.5-liter V-12, with twin turbochargers.Base price: $359,500. Most Maybach buyers lease or pay in cash, of course. But if Maybach offered zero percent financing and zero down, monthly payments would be $5,992 over five years. i saw something about these cars a few months ago. the rear seats reclilne and a cigar humidor is an option!! sweet!

There are no demonstration models to test drive -- or even see firsthand. Brian Bucholtz, the Maybach manager at Mercedes-Benz of Bloomfield Hills said buyers have to put down a $50,000 deposit. Only then is the car put into production -- for delivery about six month later. By the way, sterling silver champagne goblets are an option.

is that because of reliability issues, or is there some more fundamental principle involved?I doubt if many people who drop $360K on a car worry a lot about repair bills. Insurance would cost more than any repairs it will ever need.
