Question about searching posts

Post by dsegundo »

I was wondering if there's a way to show all of the posts that have been posted on since you last viewed? I'm on another board that has a "view new posts" button and it's so handy it's ridiculous.....just wondering if there's something like that...and the view active topics just doesn't cut it.Desi

No, there's currently no way to search for all updated topics since your last visit. Only way to do something like that would be to visit every day and use the active threads.

There is no feature like this specifically, but you can go to the Search area, type in "*" (that's an asterisk - SHIFT+8) (without the quotes) as the "Search For" criteria and click Search. By default, it will display all posts according to last post date starting with the most recent then decending. It will continue on forever until you desire. The only thing is you would need to know when the last time you had visited to know where to stop reading previous posts.Try that out and I hope it helps at least a little.

I thought I'd tried the asterisk as search criteria and it didn't work, but it does now so I don;t know. Maybe I misspelled "*" Anyway, since I'm a genvibe junkie, the activethreads works ok for me, but the asterisk search is handy if you miss a couple of days. Have to add it to the special genvibe features thread.

That's the best option I can see in regards to a long-term way to search for active posts greater than the past 24 hours.

I guess if that's the only thing that'll work it. It don't matter, it's fine. I was just wondering.Keep up the good work
