heat problems??

Post by SgrPlum »

Hi Everyone... I'm so worried! My Vibe is only 2 weeks old, and I think I'm already having a problem with the heat!! It was fine and hot up until today. About a half hour ago, I was driving home, and noticed my heat wasn't as hot as it usually was, and it wasn't as hot as it was today. So, I tried turning it off and back on again... well, this obviously didn't fix the problem. THEN, I turned the Hot/Cold knob all the way to COLD, and then back up to HOT again .... well, this just made my problem WORSE, and now with the knob turned all the way in the red zone, it feels like air conditioning. What is going on? Anyone have any advice or can relate?? Thanks for listening!~Sarah

First, the good news is you have a full bumper to bumper warranty, so it won't cost you a penny. It's probably one of two things. Either the temperature knob on the instrument panel has come loose or disconnected from the cable or your thermostat is stuck open. Either way, your dealer should be only too happy to fix it for you.

UPDATE everyone!! Raging Fish was SO quick to help me!!!! He thought it might have been my metal cable popped off of the temperature baffle... or as I like to say, the hoop thingy popped off the white thingy. Haha.. Anyways, I fixed it myself!! (with a lot of help) So thanks to Raging Fish, Vibe Rater's quick response, and everyone on this forum, for always being so helpful! You guys ROCK!!~Sarah

What she means to say is the notorious cable that has caused numerous A/C problems and spawned the TSB popped off the baffle control. Thus, she was turning the knob, but the cable wasn't controlling anyhting, because it had separated from the air flow control.Quick fix. Was just a shot int eh dark.Glad to help Sarah! I had the same issue, but it was after the dealer "fixed" the thermostat knob. Mine was stuck on the hottest setting and driving in the car for more than an hour was torture. I remember driving with the windows down during the winter until they fixed it.
