Someone Please Help Me

Post by LawMaker »

All: I have an 03 Base Vibe (With the Moon and Tunes pakcage). I went to a local accesory store and had a box&amp installed (in my trunk) and they had to put some converter into my stereo (the back of the stereo) so that I did not have the buy a new radio deck. Now I want to add XM radio to my stereo (this one in particular) (http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c ... oid=-10341) the problem I am having is that I do NOT have a tape deck so I was going to buy a BlitzSafe adapter to plug into my stereo and then I can run the roady right into the adapter. Anyone know if this will cause problems, and also does anyone have any pictures of the BACK of the stereo, like where the wires are and everything are, I want to see if the blitzsafe would actually fit. I am hoping that the box/amp is not using the space for the xm radio (because keep in mind I have a stock radio and it needed a converter for the box/amp to actually work). Someone please let me know, thanks in advance

Do you have the single or 6-disc head unit?It would help to see a picture of exactly what they did to wire in the converter for your box.

Did they add an amp? If they did, then they probably used a hi-low adapter. This just takes a set of your speaker leads and converts them into an RCA signal for a better amp signal connection. You should be able to buy an antenna adaptor for the XM, it should be very similar to the type that allows you to add a CD changer to a stock deck.

The FM modulator isn't so bad, your XM signal would just not sound as good as a straight connection but would sound like your BEST FM station does. It is the only option without buying an after market head unit.

You could always buy a head unit, say, from an 04 sunfire, and that is XM ready. You would probabl need the factory receiver and antenna as well.

Good luck getting the factory XM, there is practically NO WAY to get that after the factory. X_x; FM Mod isn't horrible, and if you want it quick and easy, get the XM Commander from BestBuy, it has a modulater built in for $160 with everything you need.If you're going to buy a new XM unit, please PM me! As an existing XM Customer, I can save you $20 on new hardware through the end of October! Just give me your email, and i'll send you details from XM.
