Greenfire has a supercharged AWD matrix. While I didn't get a ride myself (next time Jay, promise me) I hear it was awesome.

"Greenfire has a supercharged AWD matrix. While I didn't get a ride myself (next time Jay, promise me) I hear it was awesome."I have been following that. I am very interested to see how it holds up. I feel that it will be fine. I have a base 2wd vibe but am intrigued how this awd version will end up. I am surprised that it hasn't generated very many posts.-Savoy-

Did you know when you hit "reply", below the reply box, there is a link that says "quote original post?" Clicking that will automatically quote the original post, as I did just now. Just a tip in case you didn't realize that...Yeah, he said TRD said the charger could go on an AWD, but Toyota itself says it can't. Gotta love that. So he had to install it himself, as Toyota told it's dealers they can't isntall it on the AWD.Would love to have one. Would also love to have enough money to have one.

"As you can see...it's a habit. I do know about the "quote original post" link but I have been doing it this way for a while on many different forums. I appreciate the concern tho. But back on topic...i just think that it is awesome that he supercharged the awd...I've always believed that the awd should have been the more powerful vehicle out of all the options. I have also been reading that some of the parts of the awd were designed by porche or were used on some porche vehicles?!? Any truth to that??-Savoy-

"I wonder if somethiing goes wrong with his drive train if the warranty is voided."Let's say it does damage the Viscuous Coupling(?)(hopefully and surely it won't)..will that just disable the awd part or would it do worse?-Savoy-

Anyone reading the review above notice how they pick the Matrix over the Vibe in the area of looks (opinion and understandable) and handling?!?-Savoy-

they probably picked the matrix because it's toyota and not gm. tend to lean more towards labeled rice than unlabeled. i had hoped the awd version was also more powerful. i would have bot it then. but after test driving it, i just didn't care for the auto tranny and the lack of power. too bad. i think it's a good awd system.

IGN should stick to video games, because that review was horrible, and full of discrepancies.

The review has kinda lame opinions but I see no discrepancies. The models above base on Vibes/Matrix have different shocks and handle better but ride poorer and the performance #s are from Toyota. I much prefer when a reviewer does the work but I see no discrepancies.

i think the 0-60 time was a bit off, maybe some other numbers as well. in the majority of the reviews i have read, the vibe was the more visually appealing, this article appeared very biased to me. that article said the stock base had 134 horses on the 2004. isn't it lower than that? i could swear the 2003 had 130 and the 04 has less because of higher emission standards.

Maybe I should have said mistakes instead of discrepancies. For instance:“Towing capacity is higher than Protege5, with 53 cu. ft. versus the Mazda's 38 cu. ft.” Measuring towing capacity in cu. ft.?“Performance-wise, the standard edition's 134 hp @ 6,000 rpm competes directly with comparable 4 cyl rides in the same price group, such as the cheaper Ford Focus (145 hp @ 5750 rpm)”The Matrix has 130 hp just like the Vibe. Also I though the horse power figure for the focus was high, but I forgot they are using a 2.3 liter Mazda engine instead of the 2.0 liter Zetec now.

The Base/XR models are unchanged.

quote:I wonder if somethiing goes wrong with his drive train if the warranty is voided. Hey guys, I just saw this thread. To answer the question above... The dealer I purchased the SC from sold it so me as a SC for the "4wd matrix XR". I have the paperwork to back that up. So if something were to fail, that dealer would have to pay for the repairs. It wouldnt be easy but, I beleive that would be the case. The jury is still out as to where the week point is exactly. I have emails claiming "the drivetrain" and another saying its the transmission. Another point is that the 4wd only comes on when the front wheels spin. This is only a very small percentage of overall driving... Unless you hammer it all the time or drive on ice all the time.(which I dont). Therefore the rear dif is only engaged for a small percentage of the time. I dont think there will be any problems.
