Rain-X and such

Post by Altus »

Alrighty folks - so it seems like the general consensus is that Rain-X is one of those "must have" products. I'm convinced, I'll buy a bottle and try it out too But for those of you using it, here's a question -- has anyone tried using it on the headlights? I know, I know, they say don't use it on plastic -- I'm just wondering if someone's tried it?On my Vibe at least, I notice that the headlights actually get fairly obscured by rain (or snow as the case may be yesterday! !@#$@!#$@)And so wondering if anyone's found a product that works to keep the headlights clear and clean....

I bought my RainX Interior Anti-Fog at AutoZone. It was $2.

I advise against rain-Xing the rear (hatch) window. That window collects mist and spray, and when you rain-X it, it causes that stuff to bead up, but it doesn't flow off the way it does on the front windshield, it just completely obscures vision. The first time I drove in the rain after rain-Xing the hatch window I knew immediately it was a mistake.

I Rain-X every window and the mirrors. I don't have a problem with water on my hatch glass. Might I suggest the rear glass wiper?

I thought about getting one of those rear glass wipers, the fancy electrical kind that you don't have to lean out of the car to operate manually, but couldn't afford whatever option package they come with. So I just have my kid do it.

I HATE RAIN-X ...i put it on w/ the wipes on the front window and ever since my wipers have bounced along the window when in use....really loud and irritating...it has worn down a lot now but i still get a little bounce.......man i wish i had never put it on!!maybe the spray works better??? i am certainly not anxcious to find out though!!

It can sond strange, but last time I put Rain-X on my windshield, I used a orbital buffer to polish the product. By far easier and give better and faster result.

thats what i thought it would be so i bought a $20 set of very high quality wipers and it made no difference. The wipes simply call for you to wipe the entire windshield....thats what i did....wish i hadnt!
