MatrixOwners.com Tri-State Meet - ACCOMODATION VOTING

Post by ragingfish »

Ok, doing research, I found the following area hotels available at, what I deem to be, reasonable rates. Choose the one of your preference (or if you have none, say so), and then the majority will determine where we all crash for the night! NOTE: Price estimates in US DollarsUnfortunately, most of the hotels I could find, as I only went with chains, were a bit south over the NJ border...it is about 20-25 minutes south, but relatively close to the big malls and whatnot. I made sure to list some NY ones, but they too, are about 20-25 minutes away. The meet spot is very remote. Sorry guys, did the best I could.Greenfire -- if you know of any decent, and inexpensive, hotels in the area, please let me know!I tried to find as many hotels as I could with AAA/CAA rates, but it wasn't easy. I went with hotels that seemed decent, but were under $100 a night.

Looks like the one in Nanuet, NY (the one I voted for) has no available rooms for that weekend already. However, the Mahwah, NJ location does have them available.

I used to go to school near the Mahwah Comfort Inn -- looked decent from what I can tell. Hey, decent's all we need, right? It has a pool. I'm satisfied.

While I'm being nosy since I'm reading everything even though it has no application to me whatsoever because I'm bored and sick...the "breakfast" at most Holiday Inns is a joke. We're talking rice crispy treats and pop tarts. And Courtyard by Marriott is a nice place to stay, in my past experience. Breakfast isn't the greatest though. Hampton Inn wins for that. Okay. As if you all really care about my 2 cents since I'm not even coming...but just in case.

Okay I know there are at least 2 motel/hotels near Woodbury Commons. This is a few blocks from where we will eat. I dont think they are anything fancy, but when I get a chance Ill see what I can find out.

We got travelers -- Nick from Ohio, Juliana and ArcsVibe from Canada...it would be a good way to meet some of the more active members!Greenfire: Interested to hear what you find out, but I am trying to stay with chain hotels if possible. After Juliana's experience at the Northeast Rally with the hotel giving away her reservation, I would rather not risk it and stick with a chain. Plus, chains tend to have nicer amenities for only a slightly higher cost.

If I had the cash, I would. I'd just like to get to meet everybody. But I *am* coming to the Ohio rally next year so don't y'all think you're escaping just yet...

And I don't have $75. And I checked on Yahoo...it's a 10 hour drive, practically.

10 hours? Cake!Took me about that long to get to Ohio. Take rest stops, that's all.I think you're missing out on some serious fun...ask Juliana and Nick...I'm a party on feet! Seriously though...I encourage you to reconsider...the drive itself will be fun, plus meeting up with Vibe and 'trix owners is always a blast. Plus there will be the "party" at the hotel afterwards...and of course, I'll get to give everyone a tour of scenic Mahwah, NJ.Public question: I've made reservations at the Comfort Inn in Mahwah. Passed it before, seemed nice, great rates. Would it be ok with everyone if we just agreed on that, since it's easier than sitting here and tallying votes? Juliana seemed ok wtih it too...just because, I know we all want to make reservations and what not..and even if it odesn't have continental breakfast, state line diner is right there, and you haven't lived until you've eaten at the state line!Let us know folks, cause we acn start reserving rooms!

All of this talk about the meet is making me jealous that I cannot go. My daughter has a soccer game that day, and since I'm coach, it wouldn't look to good if I didn't show up.I hope you all have a good time.... but not TOO GOOD.

Traveling with 2 year old twins in the car, no matter how long, is not fun. This is one of the main reasons why we got a video system in my van. Now, has anybody heard of a Mercury Villager meet?

By the time I pay for 2 nights in a hotel...plus meals...plus gas...it's like $200+ daytrip, and I just can't afford that right now. Otherwise I would so be there.

Yeah. I seriously do want to come. Mike had me all talked into it...LOLI don't like to use the credit card unless I have to, either. And "have to" is, I need food and have no money, my printer ran out of ink and I have no money, etc. Or if I know the money is coming and I need something sooner than I can get the cash. But I hope I can manage to make it to one in enough time where I can use the experience to help plan mine next fall...

Stay with the hotel you guys are looking at. The ones here are not chain hotels and I can not recommend them. The only other is The Inn at Chester which is really nice, but always booked up on weekends.

well hey all, I would just like to say that although I will not be ale to be at the meet during the day because I work, however I am only about a half hour away from where the meet is held at. sooo My thinking that an after hours meet could happen.. I frequent many a bars and clubs in the Bergen County area (sorry youngins) so perhaps something could happen that way. Let me know what y'all think about it. Later all,Rob
