Door Handle Rod Retaining clip broke

Spent about 3 hours scouring the threads referencing Door Handle, and never found even one that mentioned the Plastic Retainer clip that keep the Vertical Rod in place on the Handle itself.

That Vertical Rod is what activates the Latch Release so the door will open.

at the tender age of 18 years old, that piece of plastic retaining clip has disintegrated.
Going to call Toyota tomorrow, but have Zero faith they will have one available anywhere.

I have called the Salvage yards around here, none have a Vibe on the grounds...

I scoured eBay for 20 pages looking at every thing tied to a Vibe, ordered some Door Handles, just in case the handle itself has broken where that Vertical Rod slips into?

I tied a Zip Tie to the Inner Door Release cable, so that my daughter can open the Passenger Door from the outside, ( she has to leave the window down )
she is a Rural Mail Carrier and needs to exit/enter the car many times a day...

I tried in vain to find some info on various toyota parts sites. Sems like they must sell them, but they don't seem to be shown in any of the parts diagrams. No telling what Toyota might call them.

Looks like the auto part chain stores sell lots of different door lock rod clips, maybe you can find one of those that work, if the broken one is in good enough shape to compare it to the ones in the stores.

I've had some luck going to the Toyota dealer and going through the exploded diagrams with the parts guy.
