I just purchased my 2nd Vibe - a 2010 AWD 2,4L with 138k miles
The first was purchased approx 3 years ago - a 2009 AWD 2.4L - it's alternator needed replaced at approx 140k miles - my son was stranded on a busy highway
I am trying to determine if the 2010 has an original alternator and if it does - replace it to avoid being stranded on the side of the road again
it currently has a pretty dirty/aged Denso 12V 28120 another number I can make out is TN104210

Welcome to Gen Vibe and the 2 Vibe club (I'm a member too)! I have an 2007 and 2008 so can't cross check with mine but with some google searches, it looks like the Denso 104210-5490 was the original alternator. I know you have a concern that it might fail and leave you stranded but you might want to have the electrical/charging system checked before switching out an expensive part that has some life left. If you have the funds and want the piece of mind from some preventative maintenance, then I'm good with that too! I'm an avid believer in the saying, "ounce of prevention, pound of cure!"
