newbie resource test

Post by joatmon »

Posting in testing, because that way some people will see it, but it will go away after a while, and won't clutter up a real forum. More like testing the idea, not the post itself. Had a couple of ideas for threads that might be useful, but figured it would be better if they made it into a regular forum from a godly moderator or admin, instead of just me, a lowly user. Would seem more legit, not sure if it's really my place to start them, don't want to presume, will leave it up to the genvibe powers to determine if there's any merit, won't be hurt if not. blah blah blah....----------------------------------------------------------------------------Thread 1. Genvibe recommended reading list Something likeThere are a lot of really good past topics that are probably of interest to many Vibe owners, but new genvibe members might not find them. It might help to have a thread to list these topics, sort of a genvibe recommended reading list, something to help new genvibe members or new Vibe owners get started. The most important first thread would be Posting Rules - http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=2180A good one for folks to introduce themselves and see who's already here:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=2197To figure out what your Vibe's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) means:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=824This is only a token few so far, I know there's a lot more,- What other threads do you think people should know about? - Any polls you'd like to see everyone vote on?---------------------------------------------------------------------------Thread 2. New Vibe owner infoEvery now and then there is a new member, just got or about to get a Vibe, and looking general info and hints on what to do with the brand new car. For some this is their first car, or first new car (for me it was my first new car in 9 years) There is a lot of info scattered among many threads, but it might help to have a thread specifically for members' advice to new Vibe owners. Things like:- what to check when taking delivery of the car- dealer prep that should have happened (shiftlock cover, tire pressure)- recommendations for things like waxing, scotchguard- learn to change a tire

OK, well this died on the vine, Forget the new owner advice idea, found an existing thread that will do fine at http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=5216, don't need another one. Just need to make sure that someone pays attention to it and refers new members to it, or it will get lost in the shuffle and become useless I still thnk thread 1 is useful, so I went ahead and creaated it. It's http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6503. Like the advice for new owners, it must be stroked periodically so that it doesn't get lost, ignored, forgotten. Unless nobody really cares, then it would be ok to have it get lost http://forums.genvibe.com/zerofile/2460/TAUNT2.wav
