Hi everyone. I just bought a Vibe and stumbed onto this discussion forum. It looks like a great place to discuss potential problems or concerns, and get advice from other Vibe owners.I have a 2004 Base Vibe in the new fusion orange color (monotone cladding). I have the moon and tunes package, the power package, and the safety package. I have had it for about a month and so far I adore it. It is so much fun to drive. The only problem I have encountered is that I put my son's snare drum in the cargo area and ended up with a scratch in the plastic. Small problem I know, but it's the first defect my Vibe has acquired. Is there any way to smooth out the scratch or make it less noticeable? I'm going to get one of those cargo mats to keep it from happening again.Another question...Is there supposed to be a nut on the bolt that sticks up under the cargo area, the one that holds the spare tire? Mine didn't come with one, but I think it's supposed to have one, right?OK, one final question. The trim in my car (around the gear shifter, etc.) is a sparkley silver material. Is that standard? How should that be cleaned and shined? It keeps getting smudges and marks on it.Thanks for any input you can give me.Piper

I'm going to get one of those cargo mats to keep it from happening again. We have mentioned many times the plastic in the cargo area seems a bit too prone to scratching...I advise using Armor All Protectant on the floors and sides...the added protection seems to make the plastic less scratch-prone...at least in my experiences.quote:Another question...Is there supposed to be a nut on the bolt that sticks up under the cargo area, the one that holds the spare tire? Mine didn't come with one, but I think it's supposed to have one, right?Yes, there's a plastic "disc" that screws down over that nut to keep the spare tire covered and crap outta the spare tire...quote:OK, one final question. It keeps getting smudges and marks on it.Yes, silver is the only option from the factory. Again, try the armor all protectant. I use that on just about everything in my car. Though recently, I started using Mothers Back-To-Black on the dark vinyl surfaces, and continue to use armor all on the silver surfaces.Oh, and of course, welcome to GenVibe!
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
I was actually looking at some kits online. Can you get them installed through the dealer? Any idea how much that would cost? I don't like wood trim, but possibly something other than this silver would be better...Piper
right, you may want to consider even painting teh interior the same as the fusion orange. i think that would look pretty sharp.pesonally, i'd love to paint my vibe the same color as the interior, a red metallic called garnet mica. in the sun it just shines! I love it!
Here's a pic of the spare tire area where you can see the spare tire hold down deal. Here's an old thread that shows how to make a cargo area liner from some stuff you can get at Home Depot or Lowe's that will keep stuff from sliding around and scratching the plastic:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1366Later,Carl
Hi trdvibe! I love your car, especially the interior!! I thought that orange trim would be really cool, and then I mentioned it to a friend and she said that it would look too Halloweeny, with the charcoal interior. I like Halloween though, and I don't think that would necessarily be a bad thing. It's definitely something to consider. Where would I go to get that done?Piper
Remeber you have the house hold outlet. You could hang Jack-o-lantern lights up in your car! The ultimate trick-or-treat mobile! No I'm not crazy! And welcome!

quote:Oooh...I have some blue Christmas lights. Hmm. Blue lights. Blue Vibe. Never thought of that.Or would that be illegal to have blue lights in your car?Yup... Pigs will bust ya. Shouldn't bother you if they're not on while driving...I had xmas lights last year, used to put them on when I pulled into the parking lot at work...got some looks...that aside...I felt very corny with them, so they came down pretty fast.

I had mine done at a body shop. I know others have tried and were told no. you may want to talk to a custom refinisher/body shop that specializes in aftermarket painting etc. I spoke to Lou, the guy who did mine, and he told me $200 for painting all the parts plus shipping. to me, it's definitely worth it!and no, i don't think your vibe would look like halloween. maybe a little like a pumpkin, but not halloween. if i had the fusion orange, i'd get the interior redone a lighter color leather or fabric/neoprene: beige with orange inserts.
