If there has already been a thread on this topic, please point me in that direction. Otherwise, has anyone had a problem with the molding on the top of their car coming loose? I have used pmh013's picture and added an arrow to show what I am talking about. It is the molding between the roof and the area above the door. I was out looking at it last night and noticed it. Is it something I can fix, or should I get the dealer to do it? Thanks,Charlievibe

Sorry, the picture stinks in quality...I can't seem to get my system here at work to post it correctly. As for the warrenty issue, I have no problems getting the dealer to fix it. I just thought if it was something I could easily snap back in, I would.

Do you mean that black plastic stripe that fits in the channel between the roof front at the windshield and the front of the roof rack?On mine, the back end of that piece just slides under the roof rack, and the front end sort of clips into a small retainer. There's no adhesive holding it on. I took it off once, which was easy, and put it back ok.
silverawd26 and joatman,That is exactly what I meant, thanks!!! I will try and get the strip back in tonight and if it gives me problems, I will ask the dealer to fix it.Oh, and I am a she, not a he. The Charlie goes back to a knickname given to me by my father. Sorry for the confussion there!!!Charlievibe

quote:Why do everyone try to "fix it on their own" If the car is under warranty get it fixed by the dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can think of several reasons why a person might choose to fix it themselves instead of taking it to a dealer: The owner may not have adequate confidence that dealer would be able to fix the problem. The nearest dealer may not be conveniently located to the owner. The owner may have a job and does not want to have to take time off to go to the dealer. The owner may not have transportation options to get to work while leaving their only car with the dealer for a cosmetic repair. The issue may be so easy to correct that a trip to the dealer for it would be a waste of the owner's and the dealer's time.
joatmon,I would like to add another one to your list:quote:I can think of several reasons why a person might choose to fix it themselves instead of taking it to a dealer: The owner may not have adequate confidence that dealer would be able to fix the problem. I agree that there are some problems that would be best addressed by the dealer. I have been really lucky with my vibe, no real problems. I just hope that if anything serious is going to break on my Vibe, it happens while still under warranty. The way I've been driving, I'll be out of warranty in February 2004.I like to fix things too, just haven't needed to so far with the Vibe.
the camrys' do the same thing, they (toyota) came out with the tsb for that, i'll check tuesday at work to see if toyota has one for the matrix/vibe. if not and you really don't want the dealer to screw with it, since if the replaced part will most likely do it again. glue it down with weather strip adhesive or window urlethene. we glue the camrys' down per toyota and have yet one come back up!!!
