Automatic windows and door locks not working

Post by jgp »

Hi there, my windows won’t go down and my doors won’t lock from the driver side commands. Door locks work on passenger side. Door locks also work with the key fob.

Do you think it may be a fuse? This has been happening on and off for the last month, but seems to have stopped for good.

If it were a fuse, the doors wouldn't lock from any switch or from the fob.

As for the windows, ensure that the safety lock switch (that keeps the kiddos from rolling down the windows) on the drivers side isn't depressed. Do the windows roll down from the other switches?

Pop the window switch off on the drivers side and make sure it's connected all the way (unplug, plug back in). If it is, double check it's receiving power. It could be that switch is bad, especially if it's gotten wet many times through the years. You could potentially pick a switch up for cheap from a junkyard to swap them out and verify, too.

If it's not a switch or connector, it may be broken wiring between the door and the frame.

You may need a wiring diagram and volt-ohm meter if you want to troubleshoot wiring yourself.
