Autolock security device

Post by yank dini »

I never mentioned this but I use the Autolock security device on my VIBE. If you are in the middle of getting an alarm system then this is for you. How does it work??It's a "club-like" bar that hooks around your brake pedal when you pull up on the handle at the same time press down on the foot of the device up against the firewall. This will lock the brake pedal keeping it stationary, therefore if the car is started you wont be able to shift the vehicle into drive without depressing the brake pedal because it's "stuck" so to speak. They also cover your deductable and offer a $1000.00 reward if your car is stolen within the first year of purchase.Even if you have an alarm you could still use this. As far as getting around this, the only thing you can cut or break is the brake pedal itself. But why would a thief do that if he or she can't stop the car.

All you have to do is pull the pin that the break pedal pivots on and pull the pedal out of the lock. Once the lock is out you put the pedal back up and insert the pin. It's not a very secure system and if someone really wants your car it won't stop them. At best it will just delay them a little. However, it will stop the joy-rider but not until after they have already broken into your car. You keep the car but you still have damage to fix.
