Post by HPilot »

Recently got a P043e emission system leak detection reference orifice low flow alarm.
What needs to be done to correct this?
This is on a 2010 Vibe 2.4 li Fwd.

I got that one on my 2009 last week. It was a loose gas cap. Check the rubber gasket on the gas cap for damage, too.

If the cap is fine, then you need to have a smoke test done by a mechanic to find the source of the leak. It's probably the evap canister which is plastic and can crack.

I was getting evap codes on my 2004 vibe base, with 97k on the clock. My check engine light had been on for almost 6 months with no noticeable driveability problems. Recently, i noticed a drop in my fuel mpg so I decided to clear the codes, and see what was what with a stethoscope under the hood to see if I could detect any vacuum leaks. While under the hood, i got noticeable audio indicators around the air intake box that houses the air filter. I took it apart and noticed the air filter element was incorrectly installed, it will go in any which way, but only 1 way correctly. I flipped it over and aljgned the correct orientation, buttoned it up and cleared the codes. The sel light has stayed off, mpg is back to normal and all is right in the vibe world. My only guess is my crack team of professionals at my oil change place incorrectly installed it during a service, as they try to upsell everything. Unmetered air is never a good thing. My codes were 0441 and 0446.
