09 vibe base model fwd, code c1021

Post by mv61 »

i recently purchased a 2009 vibe base model fwd with about 120.000 miles, it ran great for about 2 weeks and the vsc light, came and check engine light, i scanned the codes and replace the upstream 02 sensor and maf sensor. I fired it up and drove into town about 25 miles and highway speed 65 mph. when I accelerated from the 1st stop light these and lights came back on, car runs fine and gas mileage has been good. The gas cap is tight and clicked and weather has been nice 70 75 above. i live northwest Minnesota. I have not unhooked the battery cables yet, but i have cleared the code on 4 separate times with a code scanner. The installation of the new sensors helped a lot.

Any information and thoughts would appreciated the code that comes is C1201, the lights coming on when to accelerate from a full or near full stop.

Thank you Mike in Minnesota

I did some quick reading and it looks like the VSC gets disabled to avoid straining the engine with a malfunction. So you might need to reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery.

Another place said this can happen if your brake pads are worn and the brake fluid level gets too low, so VSC can't work.

I was going to try the cables, brake fluid is on and brake are working fine but i will double check and post thr results I like the vibe cars a lot, my 03 AWD has 190,000 on it and all i every did was normal maintenance, tires, a battery and ignition. My wife also really likes vehicle we purchased they are to find without 180000 or miles on them, like a subaru they seem to for every just not so expensive to repair

This is not an emissions control code:

C1021 Meaning :
c Chassis Code
Problem is controller area network wiring bus and modules.
1 MFG - Manufacturer Specific
0 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1 Performance
2 BBV Sensor Circuit Low Voltage
1 Transmission

I don't know enough to help you any further.

i sis as MacGryver suggested and reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery cables, I also wiped out the inside of the gas with WD40 and a rag, can ran perfect into work this evening, no problems at all
