Kayak Carrier?

Post by VGTPILOT »

Has anyone heard if there is a kayak mount in the works or if existing mounts fit the mounting bars now available? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 14' Perception Carolina that I'am trying to get up there. I was going to try my THULE stacker system and try and center it. I'm sure I will end up hanging to much off the back. A better system to look for is a Foot bracket that will allow you to extend a rack forward, I too am still waiting though.

That's the same kayak I have! Mine's the granite colored one. I might just buy the cross bars from Pontiac and play around with the different stackers and other systems. I doubt I'll get it out until next year though. Thanks for the info. By the way, have you taken your kayak out for overnight or multiple day trips? I wish the compartments were bigger to fit a pack and other large gear.

If I can't clear my rear hatch I will get a cargo basket and then use my THULE stacker on that. It should raise it up enough to clear the hatch opening. I'm planning a Fall overnighter on the Two Heart River in U.P. Michigan. My 2002 Carolina has a big hatch in front, enough for all my gear. Try lashing your Dry-bags to the deck.
