I know this should be in another forum but I posted it a few days ago in the proper but less read forum and didn't get the answers I need. I only got one reply but it wasn't from a Pontiac Tech like I had hoped. I thought I would get a quicker reply by posting here because of the higher traffic flow in this forum (I apologize for this Mr. Moderator, but I need this info ASAP). Does anyone here actually work for a Pontiac dealer? If so, can you please explain the proper procedure the dealer is supposed to follow in addressing the A/C and "headlight sentinel" sensor problems? I need inside info on this from someone "in the know" who works at a dealership before I go back there again this week.Is the dealer allowed to charge you anything for checking what temp the A/C is operating at and/or adjusting the A/C temp cable if it's under 3/36 warranty? I took my Vibe back to the dealer the other day to be serviced for the first time. I told them about the well known A/C problem and TSB about it. I also told them about the "headlight sentinel" sensor problem but I don't think Pontiac has a TSB about this yet, even though Toyota already does. They said they would check out and adjust or fix whatever I wanted but they would charge me $98.00/hour labor. Shouldn't the A/C problem be checked and fixed (if needed) free of charge under the 3/36,000 bumper to bumper warranty because of the TSB? What about the "headlight sentinel" sensor problem? Even without a TSB shouldn't this be addressed under the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty?I don't feel that I should have to pay any out of pocket expenses to correct these problems but I want to make sure I know the facts before I go back and fight with them about these problems. I want to get my facts straight so when I go back there I can "give 'em both barrels" without having to worry about putting my foot in my mouth. Please reply ASAP if you can help me out here, thanks.

IMO, those should all be covered. There shouldn't be labor just to verify a problem. There's a very simple solution for your dilemma though... FIND A NEW DEALER.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
I agree! Those should be covered under the factory warranty and should not have a charge that you's have to pay for. IMHO they are either trying to tkae money from you or they just don't know what the heck they are doing.SHadow Realm

But it sounds like they said they'd charge you without even looking...

Are you sure you didn't wander into a Canadian Pontiac Dealer by mistake?Sounds like you may have a service manager who has a common problem that we see at Canadian Pontiac dealers. Yes, your service manager has a small (removed). It's not his fault, but he's trying to make himself seem bigger by humiliating you. When you walked in there with all this talk about service bulletins, he probably felt threatened and struck back in defense. These losers think customers are all stupid peeons who know nothing about their cars, but web boards (like this one) have changed all that.

But it sounds like they said they'd charge you without even looking...Because I am a fiesty person, I would have argued this point with them. $98/hour is a huge amount to pay....rip off.My dealer told me that you have to be careful what after market changes you make, because there are some that will definately void your warranty. They said when in doubt, call the warranty division of either your dealer or GM and find out what you can and cannot do to your car to keep your warranty. You do need to call Pontiac and alert them to this dealer. If you made changes, I think you are out of luck. However, it isn't uncommon for the dealerships to charge you for 'just looking' at a problem, I have had this happen several times. What is wrong is doing it while you are still inside your warranty period. So here's the deal, call Pontiac and/or the warranty division of GM and see what's going on. If you alert the warranty division what the dealer is doing, they will step in - happened to a guy here at work. Local dealership was giving his wife grief about her Trans Am and told her she wasn't covered by the warranty. He called GM and they proceeded to call the dealer and tell them to do the work. From what I have heard, dealers don't like doing warranty work because they don't make anything. True or not, I don't know.Sorry I am so wordy today!!! Good luck.
Just because you see Charlie doesn't mean I am a he....sometimes Charlie can be a she!!!!

I suspect that would be a fruitless lesson in frustration. They'll tell you you'll void the drivetrain warranty if you don't use GM AC Delco Carwash products.
