Need hid help....

Post by Sparkie93 »

Hey guys, new guy here. Just got my vibe a couple weeks ago. Immediately disabled the auto/DRLs.

Anyway, put HIDs in tonight. No I didn't put in projectors, yes, I know I should have.

My problem came when I backed it out of the shop, high beam indicator stays on, low beams stay on and are dim when I flip to high beams. I had this issue before in my pickup, and it was a simple wire misplacement. Low beams work fine besides the high beam indicator being on...

I searched through the forum, couldn't find anything that pertained. Do I need to get cancellers? Do these cars use both filaments when high beams are on?

Any help is appreciated!

What year is your Vibe? What brand, wattage, etc. of HIDs?

It's probably an issue with the relay harness. Make sure you're using a separate chassis ground with your HID wiring as well, as the OEM harness changes resistance on the ground side when it's using the DRL module.

Vibes an 07. It's a HIDnation high low kit. 35w 4300K. All I ordered was bulbs and ballasts. Never needed anything else in my other vehicles. Maybe this one does?

My guess is that one of the power wires and the ground are in the wrong location on the 3 prong plug that meets your OEM H4 plug. It's using the high beam power as a ground when its on low beams...

Check that first

On low beam my high beam wire has 12 volts and my ground has 8 Volts. Nothing to the center wire. And no light on. Something is goofy here

If you are not running a separate harness with relays for both high/low that is your problem. Build or order a proper harness, but stay away from Chinese wiring it is mostly crap.
