Hi all. I got a quick question. Does anyone know what might be wrong if engine above 3000 rpm acts like "there is a fuel shut off"? From 0 to 3000 rpm everything is ok, then as soon as rpm needle goes beyond 3000 rpm it shuts on and off (similar when fuel shut off engages to prevent over reving the engine).
when is this happening? there is a rev limiter on the vibe if the engine is not warm enough. this was discussed in a previous thread about a month ago. if it's when you first turn the car on before the engine warms, then it's the limiter. if not, then ..... you may have a prob.
The 3000 rev limiter is only on the 2ZZ engine. I test drove a celica and that damn rev limiter kicked in for the first 5-10 minutes. Anything longer than that I would get my engine checked out.
There is no 3000rpm rev limiter though this motor will do things like that to protect itself. It won't hit lift when cold. 6000rpm. Check your MAF sensor. It may be oiled from your CAI filter creating an overly lean mixture and triggering the knock sensor or other failsafe. Clean it and reset the ecu. It may be something else but it's a quick and easy first check for a common issue.

2 in the fuse box labeled EFI. One is correct but pull them both or just disconnect the battery.
