Battery light flashing?

Yesterday on my way to work my battery light came on... I had my AC on but nothing else. It went off soon after but then kept coming back on and off on my way. I finally turned off my AC and it seemed to help. I did notice the AC pressure dipped down when the light came on. Does this just sound like I need a new battery?

Either the battery isn't holding enough juice or the alternator isn't providing enough.
You should test both of them using a multimeter.
I'd lean towards the alternator though since it happened while driving.

Since posting, I have replaced my battery which seemed to help for a couple days.... We took it on a long drive Sunday, with AC and radio on, and had no problems. Then this AM I started it up and the battery light was back on. It seems to be performing ok, other than an occasional really low idle at stop lights. I left to run to the store and the light is off for now.... very confused. If it was the alternator wouldn't it get worse during a long drive?

It could be an intermittent problem.
What year is your vibe and how many miles?
