electric leakage?

Post by eiffingeri »

My car is a 2003 Vibe and have some problem of starting. It happened 2-3 weeks ago. I drive the car back home and everything is fine. Just after I arrived and turn off the car. I restart the car after 10 min later but it has no response. No any light on and no starting noise. I asked my roommate jumped and started it. Then it is fine for several days. The same condition happened several days later. It is total fine ten minutes earlier and then totally dead.
I first think the battery may be die. I bought a yellow-top and replaced it. But it happened twice after I replace the battery and I give a weak shock when I open the door. I guess it may be electric leakage? Anyone have similar experience and suggestions about how to check the electric leakage?

possibly bad connection at the starter (positive) wire leading from battery, or ground wire leading from battery, I would try cleaning them. You will have to take battery out and under it you will find ground connection on the transmission, and loop to the engine, positive will lead to the starter solenoid itself(Take overflow tank out, it is two 10 mm bolts on the side of radiator holding it and plug fro the fan motor). You can check draw (Amperage) with amp meter in line with battery while car is off.To do Amp draw you have to take off one of the leads from battery and put your meter into amp mode, connect it in line with battery and see what draw is, let me know if cleaning does not work out, because second is more involved.Hope i can help you, i know how electrical problems can give a headache to a person. Also try starting your car in neutral (automatic) in case your neutral switch is going bad.Hey let me know if you need any help, would like to help fellow vibe owner.
