Tuneage?

Post by dnoishere »

...so maybe I'd like to get a new radio for a 2007 vibe with the monsoon system...any tips or ideas on what I can get and where I can get it from? Don't want to spend too much though. Thanks.

I've been thinking about taking the '03 into the modern era with that unit as well. Seems to do a lot of stuff for very little coin. Barring how difficult it is to use, so we need to find a place locally where we can demo it. Neither of us want anything overly complicated. Looking through the manual it doesn't seem too bad.

Got any pics of that one installed?

None required. Is it necessary with the Monsoon system?

Take all 8 wires from your head unit's speaker outputs into the input side of this thing and the 8 wires on the harness for the speakers are connected to the output side.

You don't *have* to have one if you have moon & tunes -- I didn't at first when I had my '03 years ago, but it sounds not great. You're sending a high powered signal into an amplifier for amplification so it adds a lot of white noise. This lets you attenuate the signal coming from the head unit, it sounds much better with one of these installed.

I don't have pics. It seemed quite simple to use even with "older" failing eyes. Basic functions have large easy to see and use buttons.

Same radio I just installed in mine. Question, what dash kit did you use? The one I bought (honestly forgot the brand, but it wasn't Scosche or Metra), the bezel filler panel doesn't fit over the face of the radio, so I've got a nice gap all around the radio.

And another Viber with the same JVC. :D I finally decided to pick one up a couple months ago.

My kit as the American International kit that was free from Crutchfield. I almost ordered a different one to have a backup just in case I didn't like it but this one seems to fit fine and it's sturdy enough. Not much of a gap surrounding the radio on mine. I'll get a closer pic tomorrow.

Good choice in head unit, lots of bang for the buck. 8-)

Yep. I love it. Its perfect for my needs. I also love the fact that I was able to very closely match the display to match the red look of the dash lights at night.

I'm just going to have to get a new dash kit. This is what I bought and the only parts I was able to use from it were the brackets:

....some how ColonelPanic got in my car and took a picture of my new head unit...:)

That looks like the dash kit I got and installed runningslow...I had to cut off most of the tabs though...

So here's my new unit installed....pretty easy to install...notched out the bracket for my USB cord and dropped it down into the middle lower storage box..all nice and concealed.

That's a clever workaround for the USB cable!
