Rear Door Replacment Window

Post by Toneloc »

I'm trying to replace a rear door window in a 2008 Pontiac Vibe.

Getting the door panel off and vapor barrier was fairly easy.

I'm tried putting the window down through the opening both directions sideways, then tried to rotate into position.

Maybe I was being too careful, but it seems like there was not enough room to rotate in position.

There is a bolt that holds the rear door slide, I even removed that bolt, so the track could be moved to help provide a little more room and was not successful.

Was wondering if anyone had any help / tips/ advise?

Thanks ahead.

For the '09-'10 Vibe, GM said to remove the window guide channel to install rear glass.

1. Remove the rear water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement.
2. Loosen the rubber window run channel along the center guide channel.
3. Remove the following components from the rear door:

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
• The 2 bolts (2)
• The 2 screws (3)
• The window guide channel (1)

Three of the fasteners are in the upper half of the guide. It already sound like you have the lower bolt removed. After glass is in window guides upper half, install window guide channel lower half back in place.

Thanks for the information...this is an 08'...is that that same process?

Having trouble understanding which of the pieces are which.

I'm assuming that info came from a manual....any pictures by chance?

I do not know if this would apply but posted this information to give you some ideas as to how you may get the glass in. I have no info about the earlier model but as no one else was helping, I will give you what I have if that helps you out.\

Thanks for posting...this helps.

I didn't notice the 2 screws (item 3 on the diagram) that come in from the door frame to hold that triangular piece (item 1 on the diagram) in place.

I guess that triangular piece is the rear water deflector.

Thanks for the help.

Hardest part is getting the sides of the window aligned with the rubber channels. Insert from the top and try to get it in the channels right away. Then just install the bolts that hold the bottom clips and you're good.

I know on the front doors you have to make sure the window is at a specific heights in order to access the clip bolts through an access hole.
