GT shifter spring?

So, I've having an issue shifting from second to third. Seems the shifter wants to sit over on the Left, in front of 1-2. It does not spring over to 3rd as it use to. When pushed over to 5-6 it will spring back to the Left. But not from the Left to the Right?? Is there a spring that pushes from second over to third?? I there should be, no? Oh, and I just had the dealer change the clutch... I'm thinking it's in the shifter under the dash? not at the tranny? they shouldn't have touched that, correct? Is there something at the tranny that is not "springing" me over to the Right?

All the clutch change work is under the hood, they wouldn't have to do anything w/ the shifter itself.
There is a spring in the shifter that centers it from both sides, it may have come undone on one side.

If it started acting up immediately after they replaced the clutch I'd be inclined to take it back to them.

You may want to make sure the shifter cables are routed and anchored properly from the clutch change. If the cables are loose or binding under the hood the shifter may not center in neutral the way it is suppose too.

I don't know about the 2.4's work but the 1.8 transaxle has unnecessarily complicated shifter linkage with lots of little ball joints. They all have little rubber boots holding in the grease and keeping them from rusting. I would make sure none of them are torn. If those ball joints rust, the linkage can stick just like you're describing.

Apparently, it was a lack of lube where it goes into the tranny. The tech cleaned all the gunk off, and relubed initially, but apparently not well enough. When I took it back, it took it out, and re lubed, and it's much better now. Yay!
