Windshield Replaced

Couldn't exactly figure which "department" this belongs in.

Anyway, need to have the windshield replaced on the wife's 08. Took a rock on the far right passenger pillar edge and within 3 hours an 18" crack has formed. Here in Georgia I have to pay for the replacement using up whatever deductible I have under insurance.

I just noticed there is a sun screen on the far right side. Never payed attention to it. Purpose?
I have noticed the sun screen behind the inside mirror.

Anyone had theirs replaced?
Was the sun screen in the same places?

I had mine replaced in my '09. The only "sunscreen" that mine had was around the rearview mirror. The new one was the same way.

Get a 'brow' done at a tint shop. After my new windshield I got one. It cost like $15.00 and is way better than any factory "sunscreen".

You can see the standard sunscreen around the mirror if you look close enough.

Safelite replaced mine last week. Sunscreen dots around the rearview mirror were the same, like 09vGT has pictured. Tech did a great job (In driveway repair) and told me Safelite makes their own windshields so you should get the same setup if you went through them.

FYI you can't drive the car for an hour after the new windshield is placed.
