quote:Time for those beers we talked about Lori19 Oh my! That looks beautiful! You deserve the beers Mag! That car looks so sharp now! I love the colors. Since you have no problem taking out stuff, why not just replace the carpet? Are those seatcovers or did you paint the fabric? Maybe you could get some spandex and just cover the fabris incerts on the doors. But Fritz is right (as usual!) the steering wheel, it's gotta be done Mag. You've gone this far with great results, might as well! Great pictures!
thanks Wife gets credit for picking out the colorsCarpet will be next, looks like it will pull out pretty easy after removing the seats. It's just seatcovers, might paint them later.I'll have to figure something out for the doors, i want all that brown gone Steeringwheel will definately change.. wife just put on one of those steeringwheel covers, black with blue grips. And the center of the steeringwheel will be painted in that greenish color.

hey, great job on the interior, i was just wonderin what kind of paint you used to get the job done, and did you put like a protective clear coat on top?
thanks Here is a quote from what my wife wrote on a tercel message board:quote:Duplicolor auto paint is what I used. AutoZone sells it, but surprisingly, I found more cans at K-Mart in their auto department (AutoZones would only have 1 or 2 of the large cans, Kmart would have 5-7 of the most used colors). The 5oz cans were 3.49 and the 11oz cans were 3.99. I used a domestic blue (189 I think) and an import aqua (Hampstead Green) as my two colors. The green was very hard for me to find since AutoZone *didnt* carry it in a larger can and only had 1 at a time at each of my 3 stores. So my tip is to find colors you can get your hands on easily. The first coat was a very light coat. I mean, more like a spritz. Then I put at least 2 more coats of the aqua (it covered a bit better) and 3 more of the blue. If one piece needed a bit more, then it got as many as 6 coats of color. At least two coats of clear, and then on my dash I added Polycrilic by Minwax because I like the really glossy shine. The devil is really in the details as far as factory done versus cheap. I couldnt find the duplicolor paint tubes in the shades I used, so in order to do touchups, I had to spray the paint into a cup and use a fine brush. In some cases, that was fine.. but larger touchups didnt look the same cause it was a little different shade. So keep that in mind. I think the extra gloss I put on my dash really makes it look professional.. it really brought out the metalics in the blue paint that you cant see on a picture - it just glistens and shines and is quite pretty. It looks pretty darn good! One thing I cant stress enough is prep work. Wipe with alcohol to get oils off. Sand. Sand. Wipe with alcohol twice to get the dust off. Let it dry. VERY thin coat of paint. Then you can start to get some coverage. DONT PUT TOO MUCH ON AT ONCE. The paint runs. Keep the can moving. You can always put more on, but once it runs its there, or you sand it off and start again. Do this in ventilated area (Trust me, did it in a closed garage.. not good). Its alot of work, but its really worth it.btw, the steeringwheel now matches the light green and it looks like the floor will be blue..
