How do I know my AWD is in effect

Post by ganas »

I just bought my 2004 fusion Orange AWD vibe today and have been searching for proof of its existance in the manual or on a light on the dash. The only proof I have is that is imprinted on the back of the hatch. Is it full time AWD?When it is in use will I know it?Will I just have to wait till it snows?

It is not full-time AWD.It kicks in when the car determines it is needed.Per the manual:quote:If your vehicle has all-wheel drive (AWD), the AWD system operates automatically without any action required by the driver. If the front drive wheels begin to slip, the rear wheels will automatically begin to drive the vehicle as required. There may be a slight engagement noise during hard use but this is normal. You know it works because you don't slip or lose control!

quote:Actually 95% of the power is at the front wheels and 5% at the rear wheels.I copied that entire block of text direct from the manual, so if it's wrong, call Jeff.
