Got new tires

Post by Water boy »

Since people are asking "what tire do you recommend?" I'd thought I would post what I got.
In my sig I posted:
47,900 Yokohama Avid 205/55-16 $492.40 drive out w/TPMS rebuild kits

NEW
Yokohama YK580 205/55-16 $589.19 drive out.
Avid credit $-38.80
YK580 4 x 117.00 = 468.00
Free replacement 16.50 x 4 = 66.00
Lifetime balance etc 16.00 x 4 = 64.00
Environmental fee 1 x 4 = 4.00
Tax 28.32
Tax refund on Avid -2.33
======
$589.19

I also got a $60 VISA card in the mail as well.

Now I did get a credit of $38.80 because the Avids did not make the mileage of 65,000 it claimed. Got 58,119 out of them.

Those YK580s are propriety at Discount Tire so getting a variety of feedback ratings was kinda thin. I did not find any comments that were grossly negative. Feedbacks should be used as a guide anyway, unless my mommy said it.

Wife drives the car most of the time so I can't say anything except she likes them better. But then again, the old tires were near end of life so it is not a good compare "old vs new".

I got the same 60,000 mile tires several weeks ago and am happy with them. Seem quieter than the OEM Goodyears.
My son got 90,000 mile Michelins on his Odyssey and is not very happy with those - he says not as quiet, not as smooth a ride as his OEM's.
