Rattle coming from radio area of dashboard?

Post by musicmanmu »

Hey folks,
I've noticed that there is a distinct rattle coming from the radio vicinity of the dashboard in my 2009 Vibe GT (automatic). Anytime I hit a bump or encounter some less than smooth terrain, I can hear it. It sounds like a plastic piece and not something metal, if that makes sense. I wondered if it has to do with the volume knob on the radio, which has long stopped working. I thought perhaps something on the back end of the knob fell into the paneling or something?

Either way, it doesn't affect the car insomuch as driving or anything mechanical, but it is annoying. Any clues on what it might be?

Thanks!

No idea, but you can just pull out the silver plastic trim piece that surrounds the radio and see if there is anything loose around the radio, or possibly even the radio mounts or something.

I thought about that, but was uneasy about prying it loose for fear of not being able to put it back on correctly!
