I haven't washed my Vibe for a week following my trip to Edmonton and back, but just as soon as I wash it, birds start bombarding it.They could have done that when the car was dirty last week, but nooo. They had to wait until it was clean, then make a mess of it.

So many birds perched on the power line that runs across our driveway that our cars developed diagonal white racing stripes in a couple of days. I finally went up a step ladder with a big box of carpet tacks and a tube of contact cement and glued them 1/2" apart on top of the wire all the way over the drive. Presto, 95% of the droppings were gone! (But I got some puzzled comments when the guys doing the siding a couple of months later noticed my handiwork: "Charlie, lookadat!" "What the %$#??"
They're probablying pooing on it all the time, just when its dirty it doesn't stand out so much. Once its clean, even the smallest speck of dirt sticks out like a sore thumb.

I definately know what you guys mean. I have two friggin trees near my parking lot for my apartment, both like seven feet tall. In between them is where everybody parks. The only other place to park is next to a crappy run down shed near powerlines and a tv antenna. That stuff should come into play before people build parking lots and plant trees. I have to scrape off the bird crap like ice in the middle of winter everyday.
There is like 60 cars in our parking lot.Who's car got pooped? The neighbour's or the 2nd car from me.Oh noooooooooo!IT'S ALWAYS MINE!!!It just drives me crazy!
The birds aren't the only ones. It's interesting. As I crossed Ohio and Indiana, I noticed that bugs and random objects kept slamming into my windshield and A-pillars. When I got to Indiana on my way out, the front of my car looked like I drove through a bug exhibit in a museum and just squashed millions of them.Having trouble getting many of them off!On the way back, same thing. What is it in Ohio and Indiana that makes these damn bugs think they can just go and splatter all over my clean car! HOW DARE YOU!

Hey, tell me about it. I drive through that "bug exhibit" everyday and they cover my Vibe, on top of that, they are almost impossible to get off the front of your car. My car made it overnight after I washed it before it got poo'd on by birds. I think it's shiny or something like that and they must feel the need to crap on it (reminds me of that SuperBowl commercial a few years ago with the pigeons always trying to crap on this guys car). When I had my S-10, there was a bird that sat on my driver-side mirror every morning and crapped down the front of it. When I would come out to leave for work... there he sat and just as I tried to shoo him away, he would **** on my mirror (I think he did that just to (removed) me off) ! Luckily he is not so friendly with my Vibe. Bird poo and bug guts... other than that, my Vibe would stay pretty clean (damn Ohio and their bug problems).

So I go take my Vibe to get washed yesterday, and not some $4 gas station job, either. I take it to a real full-service car wash where they clean your windows and vac your carpets and everything.Between there and home, a bird nails me on the windshield! But considering I had the moonroof open at the time, it could've been much, much worse!
quote:The birds are actually targeting those #@^% cats that dip their paws in contrasting coloured mud before walking all over your clean car! don't forget the nice claw mark on the paint as they try to climb up the rear hatch. (almost shot my brother cat when I caught it)

I looked in my mirror and saw it fall to the pavement behind me. I'm not fond of seagulls, but I felt bad for it.
