Weird Marks on Front Bumper

Post by seb0168 »

My car's front bumper was in perfect shape when I bought the car over two months ago. Then, I took three roadtrips and drove it over 30 hours in 2 weeks. I'm embarassed to say it, but I left a ton of bug guts on the front bumper for a few weeks after all my driving.

I detailed my car the other day, and noticed all these marks that don't come off. I don't know if the bugs took the paint off, or if I was just really unlucky and hit that many rocks.

What the heck did I do, and what do I do about it??

It's hard to tell from the pics - are those little holes or little raised bumps? If bumps, perhaps it's just bug guts. I've had decent luck removing them with Turtle wax bug remover. If it's holes then I'd say you were behind a gravel truck :x

Turn you head the other way :o But seriously, there's not much you can do about the nose on our Vibes. Yours still looks pretty good despite the minor damage it suffered from the recent long road trips. It looks like a combination of small chips from road debris & the impact of a few million bugs hitting it. Leave it as is and just keep cleaning it up as the bugs & debris continue to attack your front end :?

About the only thing you can do is try one of the many bug and tar remover sprays on the market which will clean off everything except rock chips.
