Replaced Belt Tensioner.....

Post by M3RR1LL »

Hey all,

About two months ago the belt tensioner was making noise. Ordered the part and took it to a garage, come to find out the bolt that holds it on was broke and half of it stuck in the engine. A garage bill later, still making the noise. Anyone have any ideas? Should I order a new one?

So the tensioner didn't get replaced?
If it did use a stethoscope or piece of hose to pinpoint where the noise is coming from.

I'd take it back to the shop, and tell them it's doing it again.
They will likely warranty their work.

They broke the bolt because they didn't raise the engine up to remove it. You need to take the motor mount loose and a few other items out of the way and jack the engine up to get the bolt out. Instead the broke it off trying to get it out. Don't take it back to them. They screwed it up from the get go.
