Best paint to use for interior

I am gonna paint my interior instead of getting a dash kit whats the best paint for mettalic red to use ? And should I do a clear coatIs it also posible to just buy a plain dash kit from gm and if so how much?

your best bet is to go to your local paint store and pick out a semi-metallic red you like. have them mix up a spray can and then use that. you will need to use some heavy sealer on the plastic or the paint will react and eat the plastic.

I used the Fusion paint at first. it does ok, but you still have to be careful. if the paint is too fresh it will react with the new paint. make sure you get plenty of coats and dry for min of 1 hr. I haven't found a metallic red that I liked premade in a can. I tried that metal flakes stuff, but it looks pink (as evidenced in my now painted grill).

I am using Testor's Spray Enamels, which are generally used for plastic models. However, they state they will work on plastic, glass, metal, and wood. NOTE: you should allow EACH coat a minimum curing time of 48 hours...I am going for a dark metallic blue. In order to acheive this look, I sprayed two coats of Copper 1251 and am on my 3rd coat of Transparent Blue 1257. After the final coat, I'll apply two or three coats of 1814 Gloss Cote.You can order them at Testor's Site for $3.29/can (only 3 oz.) + s/h and maybe tax OR you can order from UB Hobbies and pay only $2.45/can + $3.90 s/h for up to $20 worth of merchandise. Only sales in WA are taxed.Make sure to **lightly** sand w/ a minimum of 600 grit sandpaper between coats (not gloss)...works well on any imperfections you may find. Make sure to use 3m WetOrDry paper. 400 grit works well to remove the factory crap, but you must use it w/ water or the paper will clog. To speed up the curing process, I leave the panels in a box I made for this project in the cargo space of my vibe. Interior temps will shoot up to 90f+ here in L.A. on a sunny day By Sunday I should be able to apply the first gloss cote layer...I hope to have pics for you guys.I have had a lot of experience with Testor's sprays, but that's the route I'm taking
