Power Steering Reservoir Leak

Post by VibeN4 »

Hi everyone!

This is my first post on this forum. I have an '05 Base Vibe with a leaking power steering reservoir. Apparently, it's not just a matter of replacing the rubber hose connected to the reservoir. The entire assembly must be replaced and it kinda looks complicated. Has anyone replaced this part by him/herself? If so, is it difficult to do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If the hose is leaking right where it connects to the Reservoir use a really small hose clamp on front of the existing clamp....however DONT OVERTIGHTEN  the reservoir is only plastic. You dont want to crack it. Thats what I did with mine & havent had any issues for years.

I'm with cptnsolo. Check the hose. The reservoir should not break unless there was an accident or some other incident. You can pick up a cheap replacement at a junk yard, if necessary. Changing it would be easy.

Chiadog & cptnsolo, replacing the clamp is such a cost-effective way to fix the problem that it didn't even enter my mind. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the advice and thanks for the welcome!
